DID YOU KNOW…

…that 67% of Guilford County Schools’ students receive free and reduced lunch? This means that meals that students receive at school may be the only access they have to nutritious food – so what happens when those students are out of school for the summer?

As part of Day of Action, there is a volunteer opportunity to host a food drive that will benefit the MeaningFULL Meals summer nutrition program. The program supports families of Wiley Elementary, Jackson Middle and Smith High School. Click HERE to learn how you can get involved!

BackPack Beginnings will be supplying the MeaningFULL Meals with an initial stock of 3000 lbs of food. This partnership will ensure that there will be food readily available for students to take home when the program begins on June 21st.

Depend and United Way are coming together to promote healthy, active and independent living throughout an individual’s life, with a focus on volunteering. Partnerships like this help make programs like MeaningFULL Meals possible.

A Healthy Us is a blog to educate, empower and engage YOU in creating a healthier lifestyle and serves as a countdown to United Way Day of action.

Day of Action, taking place on June 21st, is an opportunity for our community to come together and address the issues that matter most!
